Ok this is something that a lot of people are getting interested in because of the growing popularity in MLG and video games in general. It is now much easier to get a big successful lan now a days.

First let me start off with the things affected outside of the game itself.

It is very easy to perform consistently on your TV set that you are used to, with your tv settings, volume settings and sitting in the comfort of your own home with your nice cushioned seat and headphones. On lan you have to perform against other people in close proximity, who can intimidate you with not only words but just mere presence of having to play with another person in the same room as you.

Now onto actualy gameplay adjustments.

1. Lan Br vs XBL Br. Aiming is slightly adjusted, it may feel to some depending on if you regularly play on host or not that your BR has less auto aim on lan, while other feel it has more which can drastically change your shot especially when shooting at long or short distances just outside of melee range.

2. You die much quicker but also have the ability to kill much quicker. No longer do people jump off snipe tower on the pit do a 360 in mid air and live to tell the story, your shots hit every time if you are actually hitting the person (this does not include the spread factor thats out of your control)

Your connection does not effect if one person dies and the other lives, some people are known to live through severe BS. Treason, Ross, Merc are some examples of people that I see pull of some of the craziest no dies I have ever seen. Ross can actually perform on Lan though which treason can not speak of so thats the difference.

Wall strafing is now a big indicator of a skilled person. The people who can move around the map and use cover better then the other and peak shot better normally are able to change the tide more then they do on XBL and are often able to put more pressure on people who just run around the map. You dont die behind walls so the skilled shot is very important.

3. Game speed, due to the fact that you kill quicker and die quicker the speed of the game adjusts a lot. I know for a fact that people will often drop there look sensitivity down one notch when playing on Lan. I know that Tripple 007 always played 6 on XBL but 5 at MLG events just because when the pace gets going and adrenaline pumps people react faster and can ofter lose there precise shot

The biggest thing I can tell you is that some people are just super solid on lan while others do not transition over well at all. Tupac is bad on XBL but was a very strong LAN player. XiT were known as Great Lan and Live players, while AbR were XBL super stars who never could push into the top 32. If you are west coast playing east coast players the most or vice versa the game will really change for you because depending on who is hosting you often get a false sense of security about things.

Another thing I should mention is that host is still very dominate on LAN, but the off host players now can all kill from equal distances.

A question I am curious about and I am sure others... although it seems quite obvious...

If you have a slightly poor connection, or are playing people from the east coast when you live on the west coast, you experience a fairly decent amount of lag. When you end up playing on LAN, will you feel like you are playing better? Will you have an easier time at all?

Playing LAN with friends from home and LAN'ing against good players over XBL are 2 different things XD

So in LAN you don't have to lead your shot's with the BR anymore?

Hes not really saying that. The game still has the same spead that it has on XBL. Its just that the BR shots will actually register every singe bullet and make an easier kill.

yours,
Depends on the player, I know that I played on a really poor connection before charlotte last season, and my stats ranged online from poor to excellent depending on the connection, but I dont think anyone on my team would argue that on lan I was the strongest player, with blades right there with me.

At the same time Phalanx played mostly on host and still did extremely well on lan with little previous lan experience

Then you have people like Gunna who has an average connection, and just plain sucks on lan for whatever reason.

Not saying that, some people just have to lead shots more on live then lan which you may think is a small thing because of how tiny the difference is of leading your shot, but in reality some people just cant adapt AbR is a good example of this, AbR is also known as Team Classic on the gamebattles ladder.

You mean spread will be the same but leading shots will be consistent from game to game and so on, which is true.

You can find a lan in Philly if I can find one in Clinton Mississippi....

And just knowing this doesn't necessarily mean LAN will be better for you. I personally suck at LAN, because my agressive play style screws me over every time. I always rush and I never play smart, and sometimes on Xbl you can get away like that, but on LAN you don't stand a chance if you don't strategize your plays, unless your playing with retards.

I am very agressive and LAN was great for me, but like Spektrum said just because I gave you a quick run through of some differences does not mean you will jump into a lan game and dominate.
