Myself, I completed the game on Normal, then, curious about the alternate ending, replayed the final level (named "Halo") with two friends on Legendary.
At first you're like "Where's my extra scene?" then- right after the post-credits sequence ends, the new scene starts..
(one day I'll finish the entire game on Legendary- probably not anytime soon since the Multiplayer is so addictive)

With a movie in the works, and Halo Wars already in the later stages of development, Bungie is far from finished with the Halo franchise; but firing the ring (Halo itself) in the third installment of the series (thus destroying Halo, as it was unprepared to fire; the catalyst for the conflagration that led to the only "boss battle" on the final level) was arguably, an even bigger move than if they HAD killed the Master Chief- maybe I should rephrase- I could see Halo without the Master Chief- but Halo without the Halo?

It also led to our discovery that Johnson... has no nose hairs... err, I mean, he dies and gives you a Spartan Laser to destroy the aforementioned "final boss" (but he does have two immaculately clean-shaven nostrils)

and out of f***in no where comes team180 with some the most sence i have heard about the ending since the game came out, lol

You must also not forget when Master Chief said "Wake me up if they ever need me again" or something like that which mean's there prob qwont be a halo 4 but something new.

I hope it ends. The ending for me makes it seem like it will. "Wake me up if they ever need me again" is just suppose to be an "epic" finish to the trilogy. Something that is suppose to make you say "that's how it started". This was a just a bump in MC's journey. Unfortunetly, the only bump we will ever see again (I hope).

no halo 4....usually game design starts before production on the current is done...and seeing as bungie confrimed that they wouldnt so yall should quit dreaming....maybe it'll be like metroid n they'll make like a remake or another story many years in the future but as of right now.....MARATHON!!!!!!!! at least thats all i heard they were workin on

hows bout this. Covenant and Humans team up to fight the real Forerunners who want their sweet revenge at MC for blowin up their Halos while they wuz out chillen at the gentlemans club, and come back and find their places wrecked.

EDIT: Just read the very long first post of that dude.
Hows this. they find MC and he meets up on Onyx with all his other Spartan buddies who are in the core room.(Read the book to understand.) They have a great big adventure and fight the forerunners like I said abve but you have more spartans to help. Cool game idea if you ask me. And there are Boss Battles in the game. the Scarab counts as a boss battle if you ask me, and the Brute Chieftan(on legendary) counts as a boss battle to me too.

maybe not a halo 4...but something similar to it...like still halo but a new story line...lol i donno....just tossin out ideas...but it would have MC in it and everything just like a different story line???iono???
