I get matched up with Brigs pretty often now who own me as it is, if I started getting matched up with several Generals each match because I had a bogus 50 I'd never win. I guess I could brag in the pregame lobby about my rank but then once the match starts it's all going to be downhill.

Exactly - thats the reason Bungie put "skill" levels on Halo. They put in in Halo so you can play a fair game and have fun not getting owned by/owning (although it is fun) people in a totally different class of playing than you.
